This is the personal website of Nihar Shah. It has no accounts, no logins, and no advertising. This page describes the small amount of information the site handles and why.
Analytics and performance
The site uses Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count page views and measure page performance (for example, load times and Core Web Vitals). These tools report aggregate statistics such as pages visited, referrers, country, browser, and device type. They do not use cookies set by this site and are not used to build advertising profiles.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes standard request information such as IP address, user agent, and the requested URL in order to serve pages, protect against abuse, and keep operational logs.
Contact form
If you use the contact form, the name, email address, and message you enter are sent to my personal inbox by email through Resend, an email delivery service. I use them only to read and reply to your message. Your IP address is held briefly in server memory to limit how many messages can be sent in a short period; it is not written to a database.
You can also email me directly instead of using the form.
Local storage
If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under the key "theme" so the site remembers it on your next visit. It never leaves your device.
External links
Blog posts are published on Substack, and many links point to GitHub, LinkedIn, X, Google Scholar, and SSRN. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you follow a link.
Sharing and retention
I do not sell or share personal information with anyone other than the service providers named above. Contact messages stay in my inbox for as long as they are useful for the conversation. To ask what I have or to have a message deleted, email me and I will take care of it.
